Hemp Freeze was built on a simple belief: people deserve products they can trust.
Our story begins with Bob Crumley, a North Carolina attorney, hemp advocate, and one of the early pioneers of the state’s hemp industry. As co-author of North Carolina’s first industrial hemp legislation, which became law in 2015, Bob played a direct role in helping establish the legal and regulatory foundation for hemp in the state.
Following the passage of that legislation, Bob founded Founder’s Hemp in Asheboro, North Carolina, with a vision centered around quality, transparency, and responsible manufacturing. In 2019, AgriProducts, the extraction division of Founder’s Hemp, became one of the first hemp processing companies in North Carolina to achieve Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification, a rigorous quality standard designed to ensure products are consistently produced and carefully controlled.
At a time when many companies rushed into the hemp industry without oversight or accountability, Founder’s Hemp focused on compliance, education, and consumer trust. Bob became known throughout the region for advocating for clear, science-based hemp regulations and for supporting North Carolina farmers, consumers, and responsible businesses during the industry’s formative years.
The Future of Hemp Freeze
Today, that mission continues through River Shield Naturals LLC, led by Abigail Crumley Johnston, Bob’s niece, who proudly carries the business forward as the next generation of this family-run company.
While customers may now see RiverShield Naturals LLC on statements, invoices, or communications, the heart of Hemp Freeze remains the same.
